02: Raising a Child with Cystic Fibrosis: Jenny Stemmerman Part 1

Headshot.jpg

We know motherhood is a messy road with unexpected twists and turns, but what happens when the unexpected turns your life upside down? It’s hard enough to be a bother when your child is healthy, but what about when they are very small and sick? Today, I am excited to have Jenny Stemmerman of the “Your Life Rocks” Podcast here to share her difficult journey with her second pregnancy. In it, she will share with true vulnerability and passion how she learned to advocate for her son with a disability and maintain a balance in her life as a working mama.

Jenny is the mother of two boys who not only runs her podcast but also a family business out in Oregon. Beginning as early as her first pregnancy, her life has looked pretty far from “traditional.” She chose to go back to work after the birth of her first son, and her husband stayed home. Since her first son was born without any complications, she planned to expect much the same with her second. However, when Jenny found out she was a carrier for Cystic Fibrosis, she had a feeling that everything was going to change. Through a long journey with plenty of doctor’s visits, hard choices, and new frontiers, Jenny and her son are healthy, happy, and learning to embrace this life to the fullest. Jenny’s story is so inspiring, and I am excited to share it with you.

Don’t forget to tell a mom they are doing a good job, and give this episode a listen.

A nurse came over ... and she said, “It’s okay to say this sucks. It’s okay to cry. It’s okay to be mad.”
